这个字只在四片甲骨上出现过，所以读法不像别的字那么稳。多数学者跟着《说文》讲，说它是“橜也，象折木衺锐著形”，就是一根折下来削尖的木橛，上端的短枝用来挂东西；也有学者把它和“弋射”联系起来，认为画的是系着绳子的短箭。前一种说法更通行，所以这里标为“较可能”。
這個字只在四片甲骨上出現過，所以讀法不像別的字那麼穩。多數學者跟著《說文》講，說它是「橜也，象折木衺銳著形」，就是一根折下來削尖的木橛，上端的短枝用來掛東西；也有學者把它和「弋射」聯繫起來，認為畫的是繫著繩子的短箭。前一種說法更通行，所以這裡標為「較可能」。
The character turns up on only four bones, so its reading is less settled than most. Most scholars follow the Shuowen — “a stake; the picture of a branch broken off and sharpened”, with the short spur at the top for hanging things on. Others connect it with 弋射, shooting birds with a corded arrow, and read it as that short arrow with its line. The stake reading leads, so the picture is graded probable.
