甲骨文“弓”画的是弓身和弓弦。有的写法只刻弓背，把弦省去，所以同一个字有带弦和不带弦两种写法；弓背中间向里收的那一道弯，是分辨它和“九”一类钩形字的关键。

Oracle-bone 弓 draws the stave and the string. Some forms cut only the stave and leave the string out, so the same character appears with and without it. The inward pinch at the waist of the stave is what tells 弓 from hook-shaped signs such as 九.
