“男”由“田”和“力”两件东西拼成，两者左右并排、上下叠放都有，位置可以换，意思不变。《说文》说“男，丈夫也。从田，从力，言男用力于田也”，这一回和甲骨文的画法对得上。“力”本身是什么，见“力”字的说明。

男 is built from 田 and 力; they may stand side by side or one above the other, and swapping their places does not change the character. 說文 says “男 is a grown man; from 田 and 力, because a man puts his strength into the field”, and here it does match the oracle picture. What 力 itself shows is discussed under 力.
