左边是人，右边是耒——就是“力”字画的那件农具。看两处细节就能认出来：人是弯着腰的，手臂伸向耒；耒的下端常分成两个尖叉，好插进土里。卜辞里王要“耤”，讲的是王亲自下田扶耒的事，《说文》说“帝耤千亩也……从耒，昔声”，说的就是这个礼。

A person on the left, a plough on the right — the same tool 力 draws. Two details give it away: the figure is bent forward with its arm reaching out to the shaft, and the foot of the plough is often split into two prongs so that it bites into the ground. When the inscriptions ask whether the king should 耤, they mean him taking the plough himself, the rite 說文 describes as “the sovereign ploughing the thousand acres … from 耒, with 昔 as the sound”.
