这个字形画的是一件口上立着双柱的酒器，有的写法旁边还加一只手，像端着它。王国维把它释为“斝”，这一说现在最通行；在他以前，学者多把同一字形读作“散”。因此图形解释标为较可能。《说文》说“斝，玉爵也”，还说夏叫琖、殷叫斝、周叫爵。和“爵”相比，爵的口上只有一根柱。

The graph shows a wine vessel with two posts standing on its rim, sometimes with a hand beside it. 王國維 identified it as 斝, and that reading now leads; before him scholars generally read the same graph as 散, so the picture is graded probable. 說文 calls 斝 “a jade 爵”, and says the Xia called it 琖, the Shang 斝 and the Zhou 爵. Beside 爵, which carries a single post, 斝 has two.
