甲骨文“耳”是单独一只耳朵的侧视图：外缘一条大弧线，中间一两笔表示耳廓。“取”字就是一只手拿着一只耳朵——古人记战功，要割下耳朵来计数。

Oracle-bone 耳 is a single ear seen from the side: one long outer curve with one or two strokes inside for the fold. The character 取 is a hand holding an ear: war records were kept by counting the ears cut from the fallen.
