甲骨文“口”上边一横、下边圆收，中间是空的，两侧的竖笔常常高出上横。“日”和它外形相近，但“日”的轮廓里一定有一点或一横。

Oracle-bone 口 has a bar across the top, a rounded base and an empty middle; the side strokes often run up past the bar. 日 (sun) looks similar, but a 日 always carries a dot or a bar inside its outline.
