“祝”由三部分组成：左边是神主（示），右边是一个跪着的人，人的头部画一个张开的口。跪姿加张口，正是祝祷的样子。跪着的人形在“邑”“令”里也会出现，要靠它旁边或上面配的是什么来分辨——“祝”配的是神主和口。

祝 has three parts: 示 the tablet on the left, a kneeling person on the right, and an open 口, a mouth, at the person's head. Kneeling with an open mouth is exactly the posture of prayer. The same kneeling figure appears in 邑 and 令, so what stands beside or above it decides — in 祝 it is a tablet and a mouth.
