What the bone draws is the basket itself, and the two strokes inside are the crossing of the split bamboo; some forms keep only one level line, and some round the bottom off. On the bones this graph is mostly borrowed to write the particle 其 — the library files that use at glyph_modal_001, and it is the same character. The loan stuck, so later writers put 竹 on top and made 箕 to give the basket its own graph back. 說文 glosses 箕 as 簸, to winnow, which is exactly this basket's work, and records several older and 籀 forms besides, so the character wore more than one face from early on. Two features name it: the corners flaring outward, and the weave inside.
