把“矢”倒过来，再在底下加一条横，就是“至”：箭落到地上，也就到了。现代古文字学者多据此解释这个字，所以要和“矢”分开只看方向——“矢”的箭头朝上，“至”的箭头朝下，而且下面压着一条地线。《说文》另有一说，把上半看成飞鸟：“鸟飞从高下至地也”，那是汉代人的讲法。中间鼓出的菱形是箭杆上的装饰，有的写法有，有的写法没有。

Turn 矢 (arrow) upside down and lay a bar under it and you have 至: the arrow has come down to the ground, and so has arrived. Modern palaeographers read the graph this way, so the thing to check against 矢 is direction — 矢 points up, 至 points down and rests on a ground line. 說文 offers a different account, taking the upper half for a bird: “a bird flying down from on high to the ground”; that is the Han-dynasty reading. The lozenge swelling on the shaft is a decoration that some forms carry and others leave out.
