甲骨文“采”上面是一只手（爪），下面是一棵树：手伸向树梢摘取，所以是“采摘”。有的写法在枝头加两个小圆圈，那是要摘的果实。《说文》说得很简单：“采，捋取也。从木，从爪。”和“木”相比，多出来的就是树上那只手。

Oracle-bone 采 is a hand (爪) above a tree: the hand reaches into the crown to take something, hence “to pick”. Some forms add two little rings at the branch tips — the fruit being picked. 說文 puts it plainly: 「采，捋取也。从木，从爪。」 Against 木, the extra element is simply that hand above the tree.
