甲骨文“屮”只有一根茎和两片叶，画的是草木刚冒头的样子。它比“木”少了下面的根，比“生”少了底下那条地平线。卜辞里“屮”常被借去写“又/有”，那是借音，不是它本来的意思。

Oracle-bone 屮 is one stem and two leaves — a plant just breaking through. It has no roots below it, which is what separates it from 木, and no ground line, which is what separates it from 生. In the divination records 屮 is often borrowed to write 又/有; that is a loan for the sound, not its own meaning.
