甲骨文“网”是一张张开的网：两边是撑网的立柱，中间的斜线交叉成网眼，有的写法上面还加一道横框。网眼刻几组都可以——一组、两组，也有刻满一片的。这个字后来加声符写作“網”，简化字又写回“网”。
甲骨文「網」本寫作「网」，是一張張開的網：兩邊是撐網的立柱，中間的斜線交叉成網眼，有的寫法上面還加一道橫框。網眼刻幾組都可以——一組、兩組，也有刻滿一片的。這個字後來加聲符寫作「網」，簡化字寫作「网」，又回到甲骨文的樣子。
Oracle-bone 网 is a net held open: uprights at the sides, slanting cords crossing into mesh between them, and in some forms a bar framing the top. The number of crossings varies — one, two, or a whole sheet of them. The character later took a phonetic and was written 網; the simplified form returns to 网.
