Crossed sticks with sparks flying off them are 尞, the same bundle that burns inside 燎; on the bone 寮 tucks it under a roof and draws a hollow beneath. Two readings part company here. Taking the bone picture at face value, the piece on top is 宀, a roof, and this is a room with a fire lit in it. 說文, however, files the character as 竂 and says “竂 is a boring through; 穴 for sense, 尞 for sound” — it sees 穴, a hole dug out, with the fire contributing nothing but the sound. Roof or pit mouth, fire as sense or fire as sound: both readings stand. The shapes themselves are not in doubt — sticks, sparks, hollow, all present.
