龐 is a roof above and 龍 below, with 龍 carrying the sound. Find the hook first: the dragon's body always trails down in one long stroke and curls back, and a roof with that hook under it is 龐. 說文's “龐 is a high house” matches the graph; on the bones the word is used mostly as a place name and a personal name.
