甲骨文“龙”是一个头上戴角冠、口部张开、身子蜿蜒下垂的动物形。它究竟画的是什么，学界至今没有定论：有人认为是鳄鱼一类的水生猛兽，有人认为是巨蛇，也有人认为它从一开始就是想象出来的神物。单凭字形难以判定，所以这里标为“有争议”。
甲骨文「龍」是一個頭上戴角冠、口部張開、身子蜿蜒下垂的動物形。它究竟畫的是什麼，學界至今沒有定論：有人認為是鱷魚一類的水生猛獸，有人認為是巨蛇，也有人認為它從一開始就是想像出來的神物。單憑字形難以判定，所以這裡標為「有爭議」。
Oracle-bone 龙 shows an animal with a crested head, open jaws and a long winding body. What it depicts is still unsettled: some read it as a crocodile-like water predator, some as a giant snake, some as an imagined creature from the start. The form alone cannot decide, so the reading is marked as debated.
