两个部件并排：一边是“女”，两臂交叠、屈膝跪坐；一边是“子”，方框是头，一横是两臂，一竖是身子。左右位置可以互换，甲骨文的方向本来就不固定。卜辞里“好”还用作商王配偶“妇好”的名号。《说文》说“好，美也，从女、子”。

Two components stand side by side: 女, a woman kneeling with her arms folded, and 子, a child whose head is the box, whose arms are the bar and whose body is the upright. Either may stand on the left — oracle-bone writing does not fix the direction. In the divination records 好 is also the name of the royal consort 婦好. The Shuowen says '好 is what is fine; it is made of 女 and 子'.
