甲骨文“眉”是“目”上加毛：眼睛照旧横着画，上面加两三笔短竖。有的写法把几根眉毛连成一道波折线，有的把眼睛侧过来立着写，眉毛就拉成一道长弧。《说文》说“眉，目上毛也”，和甲骨文的画法一致。
甲骨文「眉」是「目」上加毛：眼睛照舊橫著畫，上面加兩三筆短豎。有的寫法把幾根眉毛連成一道波折線，有的把眼睛側過來立著寫，眉毛就拉成一道長弧。《說文》說「眉，目上毛也」，和甲骨文的畫法一致。
Oracle-bone 眉 is 目 with hair added on top: the eye stays horizontal and two or three short uprights sit above it. Some hands join the hairs into a single zigzag; others turn the eye on its side so the brow stretches into one long arc. 說文's gloss — “the hair above the eye” — matches what the carvers drew.
