“逐”由一只动物和一只脚（止）组成：脚在动物后面，追赶的意思一看就明白。被追的动物并不固定——甲骨文里有追豕（猪）的，也有追鹿的写法，其中以豕最常见。

逐 is an animal with a foot (止) behind it: the foot comes after the animal, and the sense 'pursue' follows from that. Which animal is drawn is not fixed — the bones show a boar or an antlered deer being chased — and the boar is the commonest of them.
