That blade is 辛. A blade kept indoors says there is someone inside who handles the knife and handles the business.

The thing inside the house is exactly the standalone 辛: broad head, pointed edge, straight handle. 說文 spells out both halves: “宰 is a convicted man attending to work beneath a roof; 宀 with 辛, and 辛 means guilt.” On that reading the blade stands for a punishment. Later 宰 became the name of an office: bronze vessels such as the 宰甫卣 and the 宰椃角 carry it in front of the owner's name. The modern sense “to butcher” is a further branch off the same blade.
