It is not a person and not a vessel, only a lump — and because it looks like nothing else, this is a hard character to read.

屋子好认，屋里那个团块不好认。它就是“師”左边、“追”右上角的那个零件“𠂤”，三个字用的是同一幅小图。怎么讲，说法不一：《说文》说“官，吏事君也。从宀，从𠂤。𠂤犹众也，此与師同意”，把它当成“许多人”；另一派看它鼓起收腰的样子，读作堆起来的土，也就是后来的“堆”，屋子加土堆，指一处设官驻守的地方。两说都承认画的是同一个团块，分歧在这个团块代表什么。骨片只给了轮廓，没有给答案。

The house is easy; the lump inside it is not. It is the piece 𠂤 that also stands on the left of 師 and in the upper right of 追 — three characters using one small drawing. What it stands for is argued. 說文 says “官 is an officer who serves the ruler; 宀 with 𠂤, and 𠂤 is like a multitude, as in 師”, taking it for a crowd of people. Another reading looks at the swelling, waisted shape and takes it for a heap of piled earth, the ancestor of 堆 — house plus mound, a post where an officer was stationed. Both agree on the shape; they disagree about what the shape is. The bone gives the outline and no answer.
