The broom in the room is the standalone 帚, the same piece that stands on the left of 婦: a bundle of twigs, tied once in the middle, loose at the end. The bones write this room as 宀 plus 帚 — naming the room by what is done in it, the one that gets swept. 說文 files the character as 寑 and glosses it “to lie down”; the seal form it was reading had already added a hand beside the broom, which the bone does not have. The form in use today is 寢 (simplified 寝), the same character written another way.
