“翊”由两部分合成：右边的“羽”是翅膀，画出羽毛的横纹；左边的人形提示读音。卜辞里它专管“第二天”，常写作“翊日”，商王问的往往是明天该不该出门、该不该祭祀。《说文》说“翊，飞皃”，讲的是后来的用法，不是卜辞里的意思。

Two parts make up 翊: on the right 羽, a wing with its feathers cut as bars; on the left a standing figure that carries the sound. In the divinations the sign means the next day — 翊日 — and the king is usually asking whether tomorrow is the day to set out or to sacrifice. The Shuowen glosses it as "the look of flying", which is its later use, not its use on the bones.
