甲骨文“山”是三个尖峰立在一条底线上，中间那座最高。它和“火”的字形很接近，区别在于：“山”的三峰都从同一条底线上长出来，“火”的中间一笔特别长，两旁的短笔有的还离开它单独立着。

Oracle-bone 山 is three peaks rising from one base line, the middle one tallest. It comes very close to 火 (fire): in 山 all three peaks grow from the same line, while 火 gives the central stroke far more height and sometimes leaves the two short side tongues standing free.
