《甲骨文编》把这个字形收在“舝”下，字号1576。《说文》讲“舝”是“车轴耑键也”——车轴伸出轮外的一头，横插一根键，轮子才不会跑出去；又说它“两穿相背，从舛”。可是《说文》这句说的是小篆的写法：小篆上面一根带三道横的竖，下面两只相背的脚。骨上这一形却是带眼带钩的一根销，两者对不上。所以这个字形究竟写哪个词，读法不一：一说就是车键“舝”，依《甲骨文编》的归字；一说骨上这形另写别词，“舝”只是后人按晚出字形安上去的名目。字形本身也不能替我们决定——那道长钩既可以是金属的销，也可以是拴住销的绳。本条因此不定为确。

甲骨文編 files this bone form under 舝, at number 1576. 說文 glosses 舝 as “the key at the end of a chariot axle” — the axle runs out past the wheel, a key goes through it crosswise, and the wheel cannot come off — and describes it as “two piercings back to back, from 舛”. But that description fits the small seal form: an upright with three bars above, two feet turned away from each other below. The bone form is something else, a pin with an eye and a hooked foot, and the two do not line up. Which word the bone graph writes is therefore read two ways: as 舝, the axle key, which is how 甲骨文編 files it; or as some other word altogether, with 舝 a name fitted to it later from the seal form. The picture cannot settle it either — the long hook may be the metal pin or the cord that lashed the pin in place. We do not grade this one as certain.
