The upper half of 遘 is 冓 and the lower half is a footprint for walking; some forms add a 彳 (road) on the left. What 冓 depicts is still argued two ways: one camp reads two fish, or two vessels, set head to head and interlocking, which gives the sense “to meet”; the other follows 說文's gloss “crossed stacked timbers” and takes it for the original graph of 構 (to build). Both readings have supporters and neither has won, so the picture is graded “disputed”. The shape itself is easy to spot: two halves that mirror each other exactly, pinched into a narrow waist in the middle.
