“六”的形状像一间尖顶小屋。一说它本来是“庐”（草屋）的初文，被借来记数字六；一说它和屋子无关，只是专门造出来的数字记号。两说至今相持不下，所以标为“学界有争议”。它和“八”都由两笔斜画组成，区别在“六”的两笔在顶上相接，“八”的两笔分开。

六 looks like a small hut with a pointed roof. One reading makes it the original graph for 廬, a thatched hut, borrowed to write the number six; another says it has nothing to do with huts and was simply invented as a numeral. Neither has prevailed, so this is marked as scholarly debate. 六 and 八 are both two slanting strokes: in 六 they meet at the top, in 八 they do not.
