甲骨文“皿”是一只敞口的盆：两边的壁从底部往上张开，口是不封的，底下常加一道横线当底座。它是盆、盘、盂这一类器皿的通名。和“鼎”比一比：“鼎”有耳有足；和“豆”比一比：“豆”的下面是细高的一根柄。
甲骨文「皿」是一隻敞口的盆：兩邊的壁從底部往上張開，口是不封的，底下常加一道橫線當底座。它是盆、盤、盂這一類器皿的通名。和「鼎」比一比：「鼎」有耳有足；和「豆」比一比：「豆」的下面是細高的一根柄。
Oracle-bone 皿 is an open bowl: the two walls rise from the base and splay outward, the mouth is left unclosed, and a bar is usually added underneath as a stand. It is the general word for basins, dishes and bowls. Against 鼎, which carries ears and legs; and against 豆, whose foot is one tall stem.
