把“彘”和“豕”摆在一起看，多出来的只有那支箭。箭穿在身上，说的是这头猪是射来的野猪，不是圈里养的。卜辞田猎的记录里常见“隻彘”，就是猎到了野猪。箭的位置可以斜穿，也可以横穿；晚期还把猪身放倒，四条腿朝下，箭从前面平插进去。《说文》看到的已是小篆：“彘，豕也，後蹏廢謂之彘。从彑，矢声，从二匕”，它把猪身拆成“彑”和两个“匕”，甲骨文里其实只是一头整猪加一支箭。

Set 彘 beside 豕 and the only addition is the arrow. Driven through the body, it says this pig was shot in the field and did not come out of a pen; hunting records cut 隻彘, “a wild pig was taken”. The arrow may cross on the slant or straight across, and in the late forms the pig is laid on its side with all four legs down and the arrow driven in from the front. 說文 was looking at the seal shape: “彘 is a pig; one whose hind hoof is crippled is called 彘; from 彑, with 矢 for the sound, and from two 匕”. It breaks the pig's body into 彑 and a pair of 匕; on the bones there is simply a whole pig and an arrow.
