The app has no account system and needs no sign-up or sign-in. It contains no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. It makes no network requests and works fully offline. Character recognition runs on a model installed with the app, not on a cloud service. We use no tracking technology, and we do not sell or share data with anyone, because we have none.

Your learning progress (which characters you have met, mastery, review schedule, XP and streak) and your settings (language, sound, haptics, reduced motion) are stored only on your own device, where we cannot reach them. Deleting the app deletes them; you can also reset progress from the Profile tab. If system backup is switched on, this data may be included in your device's backup to your own iCloud or Google account. That is controlled by the operating system and your settings, and we have no access to it.

Pronunciation is spoken by the speech synthesiser built into your device's operating system. The app never records audio and does not ask for microphone access.

The app's Recognize feature can take a photo with the camera, or read one you pick from your photo library, and tell you which oracle-bone character it shows. All of that happens on your device. The model is installed with the app. The image is never written to storage, never added to your photo library and never uploaded anywhere — the app has no networking at all, so it could not upload it even if it wanted to. When you close the Recognize screen, the image is gone from memory.

Camera permission is requested only when you tap the camera button inside Recognize. You may decline it; everything else in the app still works. Importing a picture uses the system photo picker, which hands the app only the single image you chose, so no photo-library permission is needed.

The app requests exactly one permission — the camera — and only when you tap the camera button inside Recognize. It requests no microphone, location, contacts, photo-library, Bluetooth or notification access, and no network permission.
